Think Wild (Bend, Oregon) hired me in January of 2019 to consult with them on the development of their new Wildlife Hospital to serve the central Oregon community. Previously, central Oregon lacked a dedicated Wildlife Hospital. The renovation of this 4 acre property will allow Think Wild to serve over 1,000 injured, ill, and orphaned patients each year, providing much needed support.
Windows replaced, ADA-compliant ramp installed, new lobby location, new sign, compacted pea gravel
Significant amount of natural light. Calming feel with a waterfall feature and plants. Ability to see into remainder of hospital. Monitor installed so the public can see live feeds of patients throughout the hospital
exams initially done on the kitchen table were now able to be performed in a state-of-the-art treatment room featuring ophthalmic equipment, cold laser therapy, pemf loops, etc, The Treatment Room also features a state-of-the-art in-house laboratory including hematology, blood-chemistry, blood-lead analyzers.
State of the art Intensive Care Unit to provide oxygen therapy, thermal support, fluid therapy via constant rate infusions (infusion and syringe pump), and monitoring through high definition network cameras
A significant aspect of my work while at Think Wild was designing large, standard-exceeding enclosures that would best prepare our future patients for the best possible chance at success when released to the wild.
